Strawberry Fields is a charming cottage situated in the village of Draycott, 2 miles from Cheddar, standing at
the foot of the Mendip Hills with views of the Somerset Levels - a beautiful,
quiet and relaxed part of the West Country. With two pubs, a local Post office and farm shop Draycott is a great
place to use as a base for exploring Somerset.
Cheddar Gorge and the famous caves are only 2 miles by car, or if you prefer, there are plenty of walks that
will take you to the gorge via the scenic route, returning by bus if you wish!
The cottage itself is set down a quiet country lane and is the ideal retreat for a holiday away from
the hustle and bustle of daily life, or as a base for walkers to begin their rambles from; there
are a great many interesting and varied walks to be discovered, and many places of interest in our area to visit,
for example the impressive Wells Cathedral, or Cheddar Gorge and Caves!
Within easy reach you will find Glastonbury, with its
Tor and Abbey, plus the nearby Clarks Village Shopping Outlet if you fancy a bit of retail therapy after your walk up to the Tor!
Draycott is and ideal location to return to year after year. A must to see in November is
the famous West Country Carnival - a celebration that dates back to the Gun Powder Plot of 1605!
It is also a superb area for bike riding, with plenty of cycle routes, for example to Cheddar or across the moors to Burnham-on-Sea,
and let's not forget the beautiful Ebbor Gorge Nature Reserve that is practically on our doorstep.
We have a well stocked, south facing garden with a barbeque and patio, so if unwinding is more for you
it's easy to just relax at home in lovely peaceful surroundings.
This lovely quiet accommodation is equipped and furnished to very a high standard
